Arlene Shouse was born September 15, 1927 in Virgil, South Dakota to Otto and Treva (Eggleston) Quiram. She passed away September 24, 2010 in Whittier, California at the age of 83.Arlene grew up around Virgil, South Dakota and went to school in Sioux Falls. She left South Dakota for California around 1940, and she met her future husband. On September 26, 1943, Arlene married Jack Shouse in Yuma, Arizona.Jack and Arlene moved to Whittier in May of 1956. They purchased a home and have lived there for the past 55 years. Arlene was a waitress at the Jolly Roger in Whittier, and she also worked at K-Mart. After retiring, Arlene and Jack traveled for 11 years and visited 48 states. Arlene loved to bowl, and she bowled on the Friendly Hills Thursday Women's League. She also loved to crochet. Cooking, baking and decorating cakes were also among the things Arlene enjoyed.Mrs. Shouse was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church in La Mirada, California.Arlene is survived by her dear husband, Lewis Elmer Shouse; daughter, Carol Ann Shouse; son, Lewis Paul Shouse; seven grandchildren, Lisa Silcox, Vito Mineo, Loree Smith, Edward Ernst, Lanaya Ernst, Julie Gomez, and Lewis Allison; nine great-grandchildren, Dominic Riveria, Jazman Silcox, Kayla Silcox, Joslyn Silcox, Tina Mineo, Heather Mineo, Katie Mineo, Isabelle Gomez, and Aidan Gomez.
