Apolinaria Rodriguez

May 25, 1939 — February 1, 2017

Apolinaria Rodriguez was born on May 25, 1939 in Zacoalco, Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose Cruz and Guadalupe Sevilla. She passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 77.

Apolinaria grew up and attended school in Mexico. She met, dated and eventually married Ignacio Rodriguez in her hometown of Zacoalco on February 29, 1960. Three years later, in 1963, they immigrated to the United States, spending time in San Diego and Lodi before settling down in Los Angeles in 1968. Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez were blessed with six children and believed family always came first.

Knitting, gardening, and cooking were among Apolinarias favorite hobbies. She provided a welcoming home for many relatives throughout the years, and provided childcare for several children, raising them as if they were her own, and ensuring that no one ever left her home without a delicious home-cooked meal. She also enjoyed watching her beloved Chivas de Guadalajara soccer team and caring for her pets. Apolinaria was a devout Catholic with profound faith. She was deeply spiritual and faithful in her worship. As a life-long homemaker, Apolinaria devoted her life to her immediate and extended family. She was nurturing and selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Bernice Correa, Hector (and wife Roselia) Rodriguez, Leonor (and husband Francisco) Romero, Ignacio (and wife Maria) Rodriguez, Eddie (and wife Cheryl) Rodriguez, and Susie Rodriguez; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; and 2 sisters. Her beloved husband, Ignacio, preceded her in death in 1989.
