Antemio Hernández

Antemio Hernández, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, in Whittier, CA at the age of 81. He was born to parents Candido Hernández and Francisca Cárdenas, on October 20, 1942, in Nayarit México. He took his final breath surrounded by his loved ones, and he is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings.
 
 He married Elisa, the love of his life, on April 19, 1969. Together they created a family of seven children; Hilda (married to Ricardo), José Ramón (married to Alejandra), Aída (married to René), Verónica (married to Rudy), Artemio (married to Amalia), Jorge (married to Vanessa), and Eliza (married to Adrien). He had 19 grandchildren, 6 brothers and 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and shared great memories with.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marta, brother Angel, brothers-in-law José and Jesús Rivera, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
 In April 1978, Antemio and Elisa made the tough decision to come to this country from México, seeking better opportunities for themselves and their family. He worked hard to ensure his family learned English and received an education for better opportunities. Education was always the number one priority for Antemio's children and grandchildren, despite only completing an education up to the third grade. Antemio was very committed to his family, faith, and charity work. Family was fundamental for him, he was a devoted father and an amazing grandfather. He was his grandchildren's number one fan, he was always proud of and supportive of his grandchildren's success and achievements. He was a hard worker with a great work ethic as he worked at Porvene Doors for more than 30 years. He started with the company in Santa Fe Springs, CA followed the company to Moreno Valley, CA, and retired on January 2, 2014.
 
 Antemio loved the Dodgers and Dodger Blue. He had a green thumb and loved working and tending to his chile plants and fruit trees. He loved to connect with his siblings, relatives, and friends via phone or social media. He was kind and generous with his time and talent by being the family and community Uber, and never complained about the long drives. He enjoyed music, dancing, parties, good food, family reunions, and family gatherings. He was the best grille master and cook, and made the best tortas money could buy.
 
 Antemio's funeral mass will be held at St Gregory the Great Church in Whittier, CA on April 29th at 11:00 am. All friends and family are welcome. Antemio was an amazing man and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
 
 
 Antemio Hernández, un esposo querido, padre, abuelo, hermano y amigo. Falleció en paz el 13 de abril de 2024 en Whittier, CA a la edad de 81 años. Sus padres fueron Cándido Hernández y Francisca Cárdenas, nacio el 20 de octubre de 1942, en Nayarit México. Dio su último aliento rodeado de sus seres queridos y le sobreviven su esposa, hijos, nietos y hermanos.
 Se casó con Elisa, el amor de su vida, el 19 de abril de 1969. Juntos crearon una familia de siete hijos; Hilda (casada con Ricardo), José Ramón (casada con Alejandra), Aída (casada con René), Verónica (casada con Rudy), Artemio (casada con Amalia), Jorge (casada con Vanessa) y Eliza (casada con Adrien). Tuvo 19 nietos, 6 hermanos y 2 hermanas, y muchas sobrinas y sobrinos, a quienes amaba y con quienes compartió grandes recuerdos.
 
 Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Cándido Hernández y Francisca Cárdenas, sus suegros Virginio Rivera y María del Refugio Ruiz, su hermana Marta, su hermano Ángel, cuñados José y Jesús Rivera, tíos/as y primos/as.
 
 En abril de 1978, Antemio y Elisa tomaron la difícil decisión de venir a este país desde México, buscando mejores oportunidades para ellos y su familia. Trabajó duro para garantizar que su familia aprendiera inglés y recibieran una educación para tener mejores oportunidades. La educación siempre fue la prioridad primordial para los hijos y nietos de Antemio, a pesar de que solo completo su educación hasta el tercer grado, Antemio estaba muy comprometido con su familia, su fe y su labor caritativa. La familia fue fundamental para él. Fue un padre devoto y un abuelo increíble. Fue el fanático número uno de sus nietos. Siempre estuvo orgulloso y apoyó el éxito y los logros de sus nietos. Fue un gran trabajador con una gran ética de trabajo ya que trabajó en Porvene Doors durante más de 30 años. Comenzó en la empresa en Santa Fe Springs, California siguió la empresa hasta Moreno Valley, California y se jubiló el 2 de enero de 2014.
 
 Antemio amaba a los Dodgers y el Dodger Blue. Tenía talento para la jardinería y le encantaba trabajar y cuidar sus plantas de chile y árboles frutales. Le encantaba conectarse con sus hermanos, familiares y amigos por teléfono o por redes sociales. Fue amable y generoso con su tiempo y talento al ser el Uber familiar y comunitario, y nunca se quejó de los viajes largos. Disfrutaba de la música, el baile, las fiestas, la buena comida, y las reuniones familiares. Era el mejor maestro asador y cocinero, y hacía las mejores tortas que el dinero pudiera comprar.
 
 El funeral de Antemio se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia de San Gregorio Magno en Whittier, California, el 29 de abril a las 11:00 am. Todos los amigos y familiares son bienvenidos. Antemio fue un hombre maravilloso y todos aquellos cuyas vidas tocó lo extrañarán profundamente.
