Ann Lillian Becker, 90, passed away peacefully in Whittier on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Born on July 23, 1927 in Rye, New York, Ann was born to her parents John Forbes Orr & Esther (Nelson) Orr. She was the loving wife to Marshall Ellsworth Becker and together with Marshall they had two wonderful children, Tyler & Lori. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Ann spent her early years of life growing up in New York. As a young lady, she decided with one of her dear friends to travel to sunny southern California to visit the west coast. She knew there was a potential that she would love the sunny weather, so she left her return trip to New York open. She would end up never moving home. She attended Cooper Union College for a couple of years studying architecture before going to work as a clerk for a real estate company and candy corporation where she worked for 15 years.
As a young woman, Ann spent much time involved in church. And it was through her involvement at church where she met her husband Marshall. It was at a young adult activity, playing volleyball on the rooftop court of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, where Ann and Marshall were introduced. They were married until Marshalls passing in 1999.
Anns lived her life to the fullest, and she always poured her life into others. Her daughter Lori remembers her always being involved with Loris activities in the Girl Scouts, as well as her participation with Tyler in the Boy Scouts. She always loved taking adventures to explore new places and exhibits. It was her way of broadening her familys interest in life (and her own too). Her involvement in church was always important to her too. For years she participated in teaching Sunday school to kids ages 4-5, mostly because it energized her to see young lives grow and develop in knowledge and faith. Ann was always eager to grow in her love for life, and she never passed up an opportunity to attend a great party.
Ann is survived by her children, Tyler (Geri) Becker and Lori (Steve) Bjork; and her three grandchildren, Anthony, Allen and Samantha. She is preceded in death by her husband Marshall (1999).
A funeral service will be held for Ann on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at 10:30am at East Whittier Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery.
