Angelita was born on January 5, 1932 in Quisicedo, Spain, to Victor and Aquilina (Gomez Pea) Caballero. She passed away on August 23, 2013, in Laguna Beach, California, at the age of 81 years.
Angelita was raised in Entramborrios De Sotoscueba, Spain and became the 5th child at that time. Her mother died 2 years after she was born and Angelita was left to live with her aunt, due to the fact that her father was forced to flee the country during the Spanish Civil War (all of the remaining siblings were sent to live with various relatives or trade schools in Spain and in the United States). Angelita lived on a farm in Entramborrios with her Aunt Prudencia and her uncle Victorino Gomez, cousins Victorino Jr. and Margarita, until the age of 14 (1946) when her father was able to send for her. She and her brother Fernando made the journey to the United States and joined her father, Victor, and his wife, Maria, as well as her siblings, Josephina, Felicitas, Victor, Felix, and Louis in Los Angeles, California. It was there that a few years later she eventually met her dear husband, Rogelio Calvillo.
Rogelio and Angie were married on March 31, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. They settled in Whittier, California, and built a wonderful life for themselves where they raised five loving children. As a homemaker, Angie was able to remain home with her children, while working part-time as a seamstress. That was a special blessing for her. Rogelio, her husband, passed away in 1989, at which point Angelita moved in with her brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Margarita Caballero, who provided a loving home for her until she became ill in 2012. At that time her children then cared for her in their homes until she passed in Laguna Beach on August 23, 2013.
Outside of her family, Angelita enjoyed dancing, cooking and shopping. She was a devoted Catholic who attended St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Whittier, California.
Angelita is survived by her children, Beatrice (Dave) Rosenbaum, Roger (Teresa) Calvillo, Joseph (Arlene) Calvillo, Susan (Alfonso) Galvez, and Monica (Lewis) Zuker; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and four brothers, Victor Caballero, Felix Caballero, Fernando Caballero, and Louis Caballero. She joins her husband Rogelio Calvillo and her two sisters Josephina Caballero Morales and Felicitas Caballero Garcia in Heaven.
