Andrija "Andy" Jevtic, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 6, 2025, in Downey, California, at the age of 80. Born on July 8, 1944, in Badovinci, Serbia, Andy's journey began in a small town where he cultivated a love for life that would accompany him for decades.
Andy dedicated over 60 years of his life to his craft as a machinist, showcasing both skill and passion in his work. His steadfast commitment to his trade reflected the same dedication he exhibited in his personal life. After marrying the love of his life, Koviljka Kovacic, on July 14, 1978, in South Gate, California, the couple built a nurturing home, settling in Downey in 1982. Their life together was marked by laughter, love, and countless shared moments that will forever echo in the memories of those who knew them.
A man of simple pleasures, Andy relished in the art of preparing good meals, often complemented by a pivo. He was also known to find joy in the thrill of horse races, losing himself in the stories of old westerns, and passionately following NBA basketball as well as watching tennis (especially watching Novak Djokovic). Each evening, he would find solace in a routine, retiring to bed by 9 PM, a testament to his appreciation for a peaceful, structured life.
Andy leaves behind his beloved wife, Koviljka "Kovi" Jevtic, and their two daughters, Andrijana Pitruzzello and Alexandra Jevtic, whose lives he enriched immeasurably with his wisdom and warmth. He was a proud grandfather to the spirited Salvatore "Super Boy" Pitruzzello and the delightful Aleksandra "Ruja" Pitruzzello, who brought boundless joy to his heart.
As we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Andrija Jevtic, we invite you to share in the remembrance of a man whose kindness and simplicity touched everyone he met. A viewing will be held on January 17, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Steven's Serbian Orthodox Church in Alhambra, followed by a service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The graveside service will take place at the Serbian United Benevolent Society Cemetery in Los Angeles, commencing at 12:30 PM.
Though his presence is deeply missed, the love and memories he cultivated will continue to be a source of comfort and strength for his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Andrija "Andy" Jevtic may have departed from this world, but he leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on forever.
