Alice (De La Rosa) Talamantez was born January 9, 1921 in Finley, California, to Juan and Julia (Maruffo) Perez. She passed away Saturday, June1, 2013, in Glendora, California, at the age of 92.
As a young girl, Alice moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, where she grew up and went to school. She married Amador De La Rosa on June 21, 1942, in Los Angeles, and they eventually moved to East Los Angeles where they raised their five children. Amador passed away in 1969, and Alice remained single for many years before marrying Leovardo Talamantes in the mid-1990's. They made their home in Baja California, Mexico. Following Leovardo's death several years ago, Alice returned to Los Angeles County where she remained until the time of her death.
Alice spent her life as a wonderful homemaker. She was devoted to her family and worked hard to take care of them. As time allowed, she enjoyed being outdoors gardening. She also loved to dance!
Her children remember her as a happy woman who was strong and always had an opinion. She was a good cook--especially when it came to beans. She also loved her animals. She usually always had a canary and a dog.
A wonderful posterity survives Alice: daughters, Linda (Carmine) Cipolletti, Victoria (Rudy) Rodriguez, and Yolanda Ortiz; sibliings, Santos, Lupe, Beatrice, and Frances; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands and two children, Estela and Arthur.
