Alfred Al Fernandez Garcia passed away in Whittier, California on December 3, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born in Tulare, California to Juan and Beatrice Garcia on March 9, 1948. Al was raised in Tulare and later moved to Compton, California and attended Compton High School. In 1968, Al was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After the war, Al returned to California and began studying at Cerritos and Rio Hondo College and would later begin his career in the steel industry. On June 28, 1980 Al married the love of his life, Laura Burton. Together they welcomed 5 children and settled in Pico Rivera, California. He enjoyed wood working, music and loved studying history. Most all Al enjoyed spending time with his family.
Al was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery on December 20th 2019. In 1971 he was miraculously reborn as a Christian and we are confident he is with our Lord because of the trust he placed in Him. Al is survived by his mother, Beatrice; his wife, Laura; daughters, Sarah, Nicole; sons, Stephen, James and John; siblings, Gilbert and Gennifer as well as many nieces and nephews.
