Adeline Louise Beattie (aka) Addie Lou was born on May 12, 1928 in Michigan and passed away on October 10, 2022 at the age of 94 in her home in La Mirada, CA where she had resided for the past 57 years. She was married to the love of her life Alexander McPherson Beattie for 52 years until his death on August 11, 2003.
She was a loving mother to four children-Barbara Baumler, Steven Beattie, Terri Ackerson, and Suzanne Machen. She had 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with another one on its way. She had four surviving siblings-Bonnie Kabey (sister), John Contos (brother), Tasoula Gaddis (sister), and Alexandra Pappas (sister), She was also an Aunt and Godmother, and a great friend to so many.
Shortly after moving to La Mirada she began selling Avon walking door to door since she never drove a day in her life. She met many friends over the years while continuing selling Avon. She had worked at Escalona Elementary School for over 40 years as a teacher's aide and even after she retired at the age of 81 she continued going back during Dr. Seuss week to read to the classrooms.
Shortly after her husband's passing she had attended Cerritos College at the age of 75 to complete a two year course which was required for teacher's aides. How proud we were of her as she attended her graduation and watched her walk up in her cap and gown to receive her certificate.
Her many talents which were always completed with perfection, included toll painting, crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint, and we can't forget her pie crust. She made the best in the world.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts - Rest in peace, we love you.
